25. Feb 2025
On Thursday, February 20, 2025, we had the opportunity to welcome curious students to our internship day. This day offered participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in various areas of our company online. How exactly? Find out here!
The practical day was not only a great opportunity for the participants to learn more about BAUR, but also for us to present our company in an exciting and interactive way. With a varied program and many interesting insights into our way of working, we offered the students a day full of knowledge and inspiration. To increase the anticipation, we also sent the students a small package of goodies in advance.
The day began with a brief introduction of us and the students, followed by an entertaining Kahoot quiz. Here, the students were able to test their knowledge about us and learn new things at the same time. Questions such as "When was BAUR founded?" or "What is the proportion of women in the BAUR Group?" provided some aha moments. The question about the launch of our online store baur.de in 1999 was particularly exciting - at that time, the whole thing was actually managed by just one employee!
A central point of the practical day was store management. We explained to the students that the job goes far beyond simply clustering products. There are so many facets to discover! From the different product ranges to special requirements in different areas - there's always something new to learn here.
We covered topics such as the technical aspects of store navigation, maintaining the search bar and optimizing the multi-image view. The detailed view, checkout and shopping cart were also covered - all areas that make shopping as convenient as possible for our customers. We also explained how various purchasing systems feed the data into our database and ultimately reach the customer. It was fascinating to see how complex this process is and how many people are involved to ensure a smooth shopping experience.
The students also had the chance to gain exciting insights into the Business Insights app. We talked about what happens behind the scenes of a successful shopping app. Did you know that the average user has around five shopping apps on their phone? That shows how important it is to be innovative in this area! We discussed the many opportunities that arise from live shopping and the use of virtual assistants (AI).
Another highlight was the presentation on the role of artificial intelligence at BAUR. We took the students on a journey into the future of retail. AI can automate processes, classify customers and even generate texts, images and films. We explained why this makes so much sense for BAUR and how we use these technologies to offer our customers an even better shopping experience.
Finally, the practical day provided an excellent opportunity for an open exchange with one of our recruiters. The students were able to ask their questions about the application process at BAUR and received valuable tips on what to avoid in a job interview. One important piece of advice was to ask meaningful and creative questions and to prepare well. After all, first impressions are crucial and with the right preparation you can stand out from other applicants.
Overall, the Practical Day 2025 offered the students an exciting insight into the world of work at BAUR. They were able to learn about important topics and gather valuable information for their professional future.
We hope that this day provided some food for thought and look forward to future events!
