Health and well-being are becoming increasingly important. As an employer, the BAUR Group therefore ensures that the health of our employees is maintained and improved through various preventative and promotional measures.
More than 40 million people in Germany wear glasses and the number continues to rise. In addition to increased health awareness, the use of digital devices is also responsible for this. Whether working at a computer screen or using a cell phone in your free time - bright screens can have a negative impact on the human eye.
Our company doctor, Dr. Joachim Müller, carries out eye tests to ensure that our employees have the right visual aid for their workplace. As recently as mid-July, 18 employees took the opportunity to have their eyes and eyesight checked for changes.
Working at a computer screen is particularly stressful for the human eye. Dry and tired eyes and often even headaches - looking at the PC for hours on end puts a considerable strain on our visual organs. But working at a screen doesn't just have short-term effects - it can actually make an inadequately corrected visual impairment even worse! It is therefore all the more important to have your eyes checked regularly if you have short-sightedness or long-sightedness.
The examination includes an eye test at a distance, at close range and in relation to the individual workplace. It also includes stereo vision, the position of the eyes, the central visual field for employees aged 50 and over, color vision and a medical consultation.
Eye tests are an important part of occupational health care. However, the BAUR Group offers numerous other measures to promote and maintain the health of our employees
Every year, many people fall ill with the flu in the fall and winter - unlike the common cold, influenza often manifests itself with fever, headaches, muscle and limb pain and can be particularly dangerous for people over the age of 60 or with pre-existing conditions. Our company doctor therefore offers a voluntary, free flu vaccination for BAUR Group employees every fall.
Regular exercise is an important factor in keeping your body and mind fit into old age. That's why the BAUR Group's health program also includes sports activities.
The BAUR sports club in Burgkunstadt enables members and non-members to play tennis or go bowling.
Both are perfect for the whole family, as all ages and levels are welcome. Regular exercise can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and make us happier, as the release of the hormones dopamine, serotonin and endorphins increases feelings of happiness. Tennis in particular promotes strength, endurance and coordination through its fast movements.
If our employees would like to take it a little easier, they can take part in one of Claudia Stegmann's online yoga courses from the comfort of their own home. Both office work and activities in the industrial sector involve risks of back problems, including slipped discs. Every year, around 180,000 people in Germany are affected by slipped discs!
Yoga is an ideal sport for mobilizing the body and preventing back and joint pain. Highly stressed joints and tendons are supported and are therefore less susceptible to injury and discomfort. Another major benefit of yoga is the reduction in stress levels. You can find out more about yoga here.
As important as physical health is, a healthy mind is just as important, because body and mind affect each other and well-being is only possible if both are healthy. In order to promote the mental health of our employees, we regularly offer them keynote speeches on various topics relating to mental health. In addition to yoga classes, Claudia Stegmann also offers exciting online workshops on the topic of mindfulness.
Although awareness of the importance of mental health has increased significantly in recent years, the topic still requires more education. As part of the "Stop the Stigma" lecture series, interested employees were given a basic understanding of the different types of mental illness. You can find more information here.
