Getting a taste of the corporate world instead of going to school? For one week, five pupils from the region took the opportunity to get to know different working environments at the BAUR Group as part of a school internship.
Internships provide an insight into a profession and therefore make an important contribution to finding a career. It also gives students their first experience of everyday life in a company.
We asked our five student interns which areas of work they got to know during the week. They also tell you how a student internship at the BAUR Group works and what interested students can expect.
My name is Maria Hamann and I am 15 years old. I was born in Fürth, but currently live with my family in Burgkunstadt.
I spent the first three days of my internship in the Retail & Marketplace department and the last two days in the HR department
On Thursday at 8:30, I was picked up at reception and we went to the HR department together, where I was first introduced to all the employees and shown around the department. I then took the "Check-U" test from the Federal Employment Agency, which produced some interesting results. Together with the trainee Sophia, we went through applications, and I was also allowed to help out independently. Finally, I attended a meeting about job applications, where I learned a lot about what I should consider when writing a letter of application. I learned a lot of interesting things and gained positive impressions of working life.
My name is Samira-Lysann Scholl, I am 14 years old and I come from Burgkunstadt.
In logistics at Baur Hermes Fulfilment.
I was surprised at how much effort goes into getting the parcel with the ordered items to the customer. And also that so many people work here at the Altenkunstadt site.
I am Jonas Petterich, 16 years old and I come from Burgkunstadt.
Mechatronics technician (plant mechatronics technician)
Watch and help to rectify faults.
My name is Paula, I am 13 years old and I come from Buchenrod.
I did a student internship in the photo studio (in the areas of shoes & bags, OCV photography and retouching).
I decided on this area because I enjoy taking photographs myself.
Hi, I'm Franka, I'm 15 years old and I'm from Weismain.
I "hopped" through various areas and was in category management, divisional secretariat, campaign marketing, store management and photography (in the photo studio).
I felt comfortable in all departments, but I had the most fun in the photo studio when Paula (also an intern) and I photographed each other. The most exciting departments for me were Campaign Marketing and Category Management. In category management, for example, I selected new images for the store front and product range intro pages and recreated the pages with my image ideas.
Finally, we wanted to know from Maria, Samira-Lysann, Jonas, Paula and Franka how they would describe their internship in a few words:
