CSD - What does that actually mean?
On Christopher Street Day (CSD), millions of people around the world take to the streets every year to demonstrate for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and other queer people (LGBTQIA+). The roots of CSD lie in the Stonewall riots of 1969 on Christopher Street in New York, where queer people took a stand against police brutality. Today, CSD is an expression of pride, protest and solidarity - a clear sign against discrimination and for an open society.
This message is also celebrated loudly and colorfully in Franconia. Here you can find the most important dates for CSD parades in the region in 2025:
🏳️🌈 Würzburg - June 28, 2025
CSD Würzburg will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025 under the motto "Community Saves Democracy". The demonstration will start at 1 p.m. at Unterer Markt and lead through the city center to the Mainwiesen, where a colorful street festival with music and information stands will follow. As part of Pride Week, there will be a Dyke*March, a queer barbecue and a church service.

🏳️🌈 Bamberg - July 12, 2025
A large demonstration will also take place at Bamberg CSD 2025, starting at 2 p.m. on the station forecourt. Following the demonstration, there will be a street festival with food stalls, a stage show and live music as well as several after-show parties.

🏳️🌈 Bayreuth - July 26, 2025
"NEVER AGAIN STILL!" - Under this motto, people will be demonstrating and celebrating for the rights of people from the LGBTQIA+ community in Bayreuth for the 4th time in the city's history on July 26, 2025. In addition to the colorful parade through the city, which starts at 3 pm at the Ehrenhof, visitors can expect a Pride Week with many activities, including workshops.

🏳️🌈 Nuremberg - August 9, 2025
The largest CSD in Franconia will take place in Nuremberg on August 9. The parade starts at 12:15 p.m., the demonstration route will be announced soon. The Nuremberg Pride Weeks from 24 July to 10 August also offer an extraordinary and extensive program, including guided tours, readings, concerts, pub quizzes, rainbow picnics and much more.
