Today we would like to introduce you to Philipp. He is a working student in our environmental management department. In this interview, he tells us how he likes the job and gives you a few useful tips.
Hi, my name is Philipp, I'm 22 years old and I live in Bamberg. I'm currently studying business administration in Bamberg and am fast approaching my bachelor's degree. When I'm not busy with university or work, I like to go to a bar with friends or, if there's enough time, I like to go traveling, preferably in the mountains.
Coffee or tea?
I came across BAUR during my job search, found the job advertisement on the Internet and here I am. At school, I worked as a €450 employee in retail and later as a working student. When I was a bit further along in my studies, I wanted to switch from retail to an office to gain more specific experience and new impressions.
My main task is to work on and sometimes take on projects in the area of waste and environmental management. This ranges from the development, coordination and implementation of a new design concept for waste signage to the creation of benchmarks and coordination with waste disposal companies for the disposal of hazardous waste. Occasionally, I was also allowed to work on projects in other areas of my office. In general, my tasks are very varied and that's exactly what I love about them. There is rarely anything that is always the same and almost every task brings new challenges or hurdles to overcome.
I think the most challenging task so far has been creating a structured overview of all the manual activities and tests that we have to carry out. The scope was relatively large and it took a lot of time to go through the numerous test protocols, analyze them and structure them. In the end, however, everything worked wonderfully and I was able to create a nice clean table and overview.
Experience! I've already gained so much experience and expertise, all of which will help me in my future career. My first priority now is to complete my degree, after which I might want to do a Master's degree and then go into freelance work😅.
It's a bit cheesy, but I'd like to thank my colleagues in construction and technology - you're really the best and it's just fun to work with you! I can also only advise everyone: If it's compatible with your studies, start a job as a working student. You'll gain so much valuable experience, which is priceless and will help you find a job and develop personally, especially after your studies.
