The logistics stations at a glance
The logistics stations at a glance

Online retail has experienced an enormous upswing in recent years. The BAUR Group is also continuing to grow and is looking for new colleagues for its logistics locations in Altenkunstadt, Sonnefeld and Weismain. Parcels have been shipped here, processes optimized and customers made happy since 1925.

But what exactly do the individual stages in logistics look like? We have traced the route of an order from goods receipt to our customers' doorsteps.

1. Station

Goods receipt and inspection

The logistics process begins in the incoming goods department. This is where the trucks arrive with the goods from the various suppliers and are unloaded. In order to be able to allocate the individual items precisely, the parcels are first weighed and automatically measured by camera. They can then be sorted into the free shelf spaces in the picking warehouse. The usual principle of chaotic storage is applied here. This means that any storage space that happens to be free is immediately filled with newly delivered goods in order to make optimum use of the available space.

2. Station

Order picking

Order picking involves putting together the items ordered by customers for shipping throughout Europe. Equipped with a list and a kind of shopping cart, the logistics colleagues walk through the aisles and pick the relevant items from the shelves. They then continue on a conveyor belt to the shipping and sorting department.

3. Station

Dispatch and sorting department (packing department)

Here, the items are automatically transported to the correct packing niche and packed by hand in the shipping bags and boxes. The shipping labels are also affixed here. The employees can see from the delivery bills exactly how many items are intended for the parcel. If items are still missing, the parcels are put to one side for the time being.

4. Station

Outgoing goods

The last station is outgoing goods. The shipping labels are scanned and automatically pre-sorted according to shipping region and zip code. This allows them to be transported to the correct trucks and finally loaded.

Once the final process has been completed, the parcels are on their way to our customers as quickly as possible.

Returns department

The blouse you ordered didn't fit? That's no problem either. In the returns department, the returned items are checked and prepared for the next order. Returned items are not disposed of, but carefully checked, repackaged and forwarded in accordance with our sustainability goals.
