On-site education: Excursion to the Hochstadt district clinic

We were able to gain an exciting insight into the day-to-day work of the district clinic. The head of the district clinic's social services used a presentationto inform us about the details of the clinic, including the various treatment methods. The treatment includes medical care, psychotherapy, occupational and occupational therapy as well as the social education service. The clinic has a total of 74 beds available for this purpose. The aim of the clinic is to discharge patients with realistic prospects for the future - for example, by helping them return to the job market. They receive psychological support, their addictive behavior is treated and social and material challenges are tackled together.

After the presentation, we had the opportunity to talk to two patients. They talked about their formative past and how they became addicted. We were then able to ask open questions, which the patients answered honestly.

After the informative presentation and personal discussions with the patients, we continued with a tour of the 400-year-old building. There are various workshops for patients where they can work with wood - for example, they have the opportunity to build their own bow for the "archery" treatment program. We were also shown the garden of the district hospital, where patients can do handicrafts or gardening. Another special highlight was Theo the therapy dog, who our colleagues were able to get to know.
