IT and logistics vs. office and photo studio - every year, Boys' and Girls' Day offers pupils the opportunity to gain an insight into professions that are traditionally dominated by the opposite sex. This year, we were once again able to welcome a large number of young people and not only provide them with new impressions, but also let them get to know the practice behind the professions through active tasks.
Girls' Day began with a warm welcome and a company presentation that gave the schoolgirls an overview of the Baur Group. The participants had the opportunity to find out more about the company and take part in an interactive Kahoot quiz, which tested their knowledge of the BAUR Group and technical professions.
The presentation was followed by an exciting tour of the logistics center in Altenkunstadt, where the schoolgirls were able to experience first-hand how logistics processes work. They were able to see everything from state-of-the-art robots to sophisticated facilities and systems. Technical insights followed after the lunch break: two mechatronics trainees introduced the students to this profession, including a presentation of the training workshop and metalworking shop. Together with them, two IT specialist trainees for system integration programmed a game, which gave them a brief insight into their training occupation.
The day was rounded off with a self-picking of small gifts and a brief insight into the work of a warehouse specialist. The day ended with a feedback session in which the participants were able to share their experiences.
Boys' Day in Weismain started at the same time as Girls' Day with a brief introduction to the company and a chance to get to know each other. The profession of office management clerk was presented, after which the students got directly involved themselves. They put themselves in the shoes of an office administrator by completing a postbox task in which they had to prioritize and plan tasks themselves. The understanding of agile working was then introduced by colleagues from empiriecom: through tasks with changing "boss" positions and subsequent discussion, the students had to adapt quickly to changes and put teamwork to the test. During this part of the day, they also learned more about working in e-commerce.
One highlight was the "marshmallow challenge", which required teamwork and dealing with time pressure.
The day ended with a visit to the BAUR photo studios, where the students were able to look over the shoulders of videographers at work and take a great group photo. The feedback round with goodies, in which the students reflected on their experiences, concluded the impressive day.
